Cambridge Elections Matter! 
Very few of our current city councillors, including those endorsed by the pro-development group A Better Cambridge (ABC) won the 2025 elections by  many votes. Indeed  the support was very marginal, and certainly NOT a mandate among Cambridge residents and voters for the citywide upzoning.  Only three were exclusively ABC endorsed (Burhan Azeem,  Marc McGovern, and  Denise Simmons). The remaining had other endorsing groups that largely do not favor market based solutions for housing, and instead support housing affordability  models. 

​Among registered voters, Cambridge's #1 votes went to Sumbul Siddiqui (4.23%), Marc McGovern (4.22%), Ayah Al-Zubi (3.68%), Catherine Zusy (2.99%), Burhan Azeem (2.95%), Jivan Sobrinho-Wheeler (2.79%), Tim Flaherty (2.68%), Denise Simmons (2.42%), and Patricia Nolan (2.22%). The three ABC-endorsed only candidates—McGovern, Azeem, and Simmons—received 6,505 #1 votes combined, equal to 9.59% of registered voters. Again, this is NOT a mandate for  market rate solutions to housing here.

CAMBRIDGE CITYWIDE CALL TO ACTION!

Citywide up-zoning is reshaping every   Cambridge   neighborhood.
Learn the facts! and   get involved!!  
Cambridge's mature tree canopy, historic homes, climate resilience,  neighborhood livability, and infrastructure capabilities are at stake.

Cambridge needs more housing that people can afford while protecting mature trees, reducing flooding, and preserving the neighborhoods people love. 

What we don't need is the demolition of existing  relatively affordable housing for  far more expensive luxury homes.
Councillor   Cathie   Zusy is leading the effort to call for changes to the city upzoning.

Zusy writes on this social media post: "The flawed Multifamily Housing ordinance (MFH) is actively destroying the fabric of our neighborhoods. This morning at 214 Allston St., a perfectly good 2-family home that provided critical housing for middle income residents was needlessly torn down. It will be replaced with 2 luxury townhouses that the developer says will each sell for $2.5m or more. This is a complete betrayal of the MFH's intent. We need to amend the ordinance now."
